September 2018
Dear Families,
Welcome to September! The month is already off to a beautiful start as we honored Mother Mary’s birthday today with our annual “Muffins for Mary” celebration! Thank you to our HSA for providing our students with yummy muffin treats while we sang songs and prayed a decade of the Rosary in honor of our Blessed Mother.
With the help of our National Junior Honor Society students, we will begin our monthly service projects by gathering toiletries for Catholic Charities “Angel Kits” during the month of September. Please see below for the item(s) being requested for your child’s grade level. Donations can be sent in daily and are due by Friday, September 21st.
Our annual Jog-a-thon fundraiser will be held on October 5th with paperwork coming home soon. This fundraiser is a healthy alternative to the more common “sales” fundraisers and always proves to be a beautiful and fun day for our students! This year, both the jog-a-thon and the Gala, on February 23rd, will raise funds for safety improvements to our campus. This includes 3M S140 film for all glass doors and perimeter windows, and new locks for classroom doors. We will also take the recommendations from the already completed “School Security Assessment” from JSO, as well as any recommendations from the third party company hired by the Diocese of St. Augustine to analyze all diocesan school campuses, as we continue to make safety upgrades. With the addition of our new privacy fence down Atlantic Blvd. and these upgrades, we are confident in the safety and security we are providing to the 690 students who attend Assumption and our ECLC!
This month will also see the return of afterschool enrichment activities, such as Chess Club, Dance, Debate Club and Art Club. We are also working to add new opportunities for our students, such as Geography Club, Trivia Club, Sewing Club and more!
With school pictures on September 13th and 14th, Progress Reports on the 14th, Class Pictures on the 20th and 21st, and our Fall Pep Rally on September 28th, September always proves to be a busy month for the school! We hope to see you at some of our events this month and look forward to the relationships we will continue to build as part of this wonderful Christian Community.
God bless,
Maryann Jimenez
